NIC FAQs

Want to learn more about the Nomad-Verified badge and the Nomad Inspectors Club? Then let's dive in!

What's the Nomad-Verified badge?

The badge is awarded by members of our "Nomad Inspectors Club", which is made up of influencers and digital nomad experts.

These Nomad Inspectors check listings on Flatio to determine if they meet the minimum requirements to be considered remote work-friendly, including:

  • Fast and reliable Wi-Fi connection
  • Proper workspace
  • Space for exercise and meditation
Where is the Nomad-Verified badge displayed?
It is displayed in the description of the listing, where you can also see other details about the property.
Why do you partner with digital nomad and travel influencers as Nomad Inspectors?
Digital nomads are Flatio's main target group and currently make up around half of our tenants. That's why we work with influencers who are familiar with the lifestyle of digital nomads and the unique needs of tenants who work remotely.
How do remote workers benefit from the Nomad-Verified badge?

The badge helps remote workers who want to rent accommodation through Flatio know which listings have remote work-friendly features, such as:

  • Fast and reliable Wi-Fi connection
  • Proper workspace
  • Space for exercise and meditation
How do landlords benefit from the badge?

Nomad-Verified listings are displayed first in search results on Flatio.

And since most of our tenants work remotely, the badge helps landlords stand out from other landlords and attract more tenants.

What's more, the Nomad Inspector creates photo and video content about their stay in the property that they review, which is published on the social media accounts of Flatio and the Inspector.

This helps landlords:

  • Get more promotion and visibility for their listing
  • Gain the trust of more remote workers
  • Make their rental business more efficient by reducing the number of questions potential tenants ask about the property's features
What are the responsibilities of the Nomad Inspectors?

1- We require our Nomad Inspectors to create and post at least the following content on social media:

  • A 1-minute video about the property and their experience (with a mention of the Nomad Inspectors Club and how Flatio arranged their stay)
  • A video walkthrough of the property
  • Photos and videos of the property and its surroundings

Note: It's necessary to share the provided content on your social media platforms, tag Flatio, and use #myflatioroutine.

2- We require our Nomad Inspectors to submit their property review using this form.

What are the minimum requirements to join the Nomad Inspectors Club?
  • Over 10k followers/subscribers on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube

OR

  • A website with over 40k monthly visits

Note: Although we have a minimum requirement, we review all applications individually. For instance, even if you have only 8k followers/subscribers on social media, but demonstrate exceptional content creation skills and high engagement, we'll definitely consider your application.

What do Nomad Inspectors receive in return for inspecting a property?
  • Nomad Inspectors enjoy complimentary stays in Flatio listings as part of our partnership.
  • They can explore new global destinations or revisit familiar ones without paying rent.
  • The partnership increases visibility for Nomad Inspectors, potentially attracting new visitors, users, customers, readers, and business partners.
How long will a Nomad Inspector stay at a property?
The minimum length of stay is 3 nights, and landlords can set their own maximum length of stay.
What are the minimum requirements for a property to be considered Nomad-Verified?

1- A "stable" Wi-Fi connection with a minimum download speed of 30 Mbps and a minimum upload speed of 5 Mbps.

Important notes:

  • This is the "real" Wi-Fi speed, not the one in the landlord's contract with the service provider. Inspectors can check the "real" Wi-Fi speed on speedtest.net.
  • A minimum download speed of 30 Mbps and a minimum upload speed of 5 Mbps is usually sufficient for use by 1-2 people. We recommend that landlords set up an even faster Wi-Fi connection to make their property suitable for digital nomad families as well.
  • It's advisable to measure the "real" Wi-Fi speed in the areas of the rental unit where digital nomads are supposed to work. If the router is far away from their workspace, for example, the Internet speed and quality can drop significantly.
  • Nomad Inspectors are required to include the Wi-Fi speed link in the content they create.

2- A dedicated workspace inside the rental unit (with a quality desk and office chair, enough space to work, good lighting, and a low noise level for concentrated work)

3- A spot for exercise and meditation (within the rental unit OR on the property premises)

Bonus point:

  • Easy access to public transport and popular digital nomad spots (co-working spaces, cafes, gyms, beaches, etc.)
How does the whole process work?
  • You apply to join our Nomad Inspectors Club using this form.
  • We'll put you in touch with a landlord who has requested an inspection of their property to possibly receive the Nomad-Verified badge.
  • After the arrangements have been made, you stay at their property and carefully check if it meets all the requirements to be considered Nomad-Verified.
  • You inform us about the result by submitting your review using this form.
  • If you classify the property as Nomad-Verified, we add the corresponding badge to the listing.

Note: Flatio and the "Nomad Inspector" will post the created content on social media to promote the inspected property even if it’s not considered Nomad-Verified. This is our way of thanking the landlord for hosting the Nomad Inspector.

How can I apply to join the Nomad Inspectors Club?
All you have to do is fill out the application form. Then we'll contact you and discuss the next steps with you.
How many properties can I apply to inspect every year?
Currently, there is no limit to the number of properties you can apply to inspect as long as we both feel this partnership is mutually beneficial.
What is the minimum number of properties I must apply to inspect under this partnership?
You're required to inspect at least ONE property every 24 months. Otherwise, we'll unfortunately have to cancel your membership in the club. After that, you won't be able to re-apply to join the club for six months.
Can landlords apply for the Nomad-Verified badge for both private rooms and entire properties?
Yes. Both landlords who rent out an entire property (house, villa, flat, bungalow, etc.) and those who rent out a private room can apply for this badge.
How long is the Nomad-Verified badge valid for?
18 months. After the badge expires, the landlord can apply again to have their property inspected and potentially verified again.
What can landlords do if they don't get the badge the first time?
  • Landlords should consider the Nomad Inspector's feedback on their accommodation, particularly the quality of the Wi-Fi connection and the physical space.
  • After making the necessary improvements, landlords can re-apply to have their property inspected and possibly receive the badge.

We believe this is a great opportunity for you as a digital nomad or influencer to travel the world through complimentary stays while making a positive contribution to the remote working community.

What do you think?

If this sounds like a good idea to you too, fill out the application form to join the club, and we'll review it as soon as possible.
